Winter Weather Food Donations

With the arrival of winter has come offers of food donations from residents.

“It’s heartwarming to see first-hand the generosity of our community. Our food bank is open and accepting donations from the public,” said Viviana Matthews, executive director of Clatsop Community Agency.


Food donations may dropped off weekdays at the CCA Regional Food Bank in at CCA Astoria office, located at 364 9th St. in Astoria.

Free Meal and Services at January 30 Event


Project Homeless Connect is a free annual event that brings community services to individuals and families. This year’s event is 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, at the Seaside Convention Center.


Free services include medical and dental care, a hot meal and warm clothing, haircuts and vaccines for doggy care. Free transportation to the event is provided by Sunset Transportation District.


The event is sponsored by Clatsop Community Action, Columbia Memorial Hospital, Providence Seaside Hospital, Clatsop County Public Health, Columbia Pacific CCO, and Care Oregon.

Did You Lose Food During the January Storm? Help May Be Available

SNAP households that lost food due to winter storms or power outages may be eligible for replacement benefits.


  • If you had to throw away food purchased with SNAP due to the recent winter storms or power outages, you can request replacement benefits to purchase new food
  • You must request replacement benefits within 10 calendar days of the food loss

During the recent winter storm, we sent frequent updates via social media, NextDoor, ClatsopAlerts! and our website.

Reminders

Oregon Department of Human Services New Location

The Oregon Department of Human Services has a temporary office at 422 Gateway Ave., Astoria. This office will house Child Welfare and Self-Sufficiency Programs. 


ODHS plans to be at this location for the next nine months and is currently working on securing permanent locations to best meet the needs of the North Coast community.


In partnership with NW Connector, the public bus has been rerouted to be closer to this new building on Gateway, between Portway St and Hamburg St, increasing access for staff and those ODHS works with. 


ODHS Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services will remain at the Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare offices located at 65 North Hwy 101, Suite 204, in Warrenton.

Volunteers Sought for Clatsop County Boards, Councils and Committees

Clatsop County is welcoming applications for one open seat on the Human Services Advisory Council.


The Human Services Advisory Council advises the Board of County Commissioners on developmental disabilities, mental health and alcohol and drug abuse services. 


The council meets the first Thursday of each month to identify needs, establish priorities for publicly funded services and assist in selection of service providers, evaluate services and provide a link to the public through advocacy and education. 


There is one open seat with the term ending February 28, 2024, which may be renewed for a new three-year term.

4-H Extension Budget Committee

Clatsop County is accepting applications for two vacancies on the 4-H Extension Budget Committee.


The application deadline is Friday, January 26, 2024. To apply, submit an online application at ClatsopCounty.gov.

Public Works

Clatsop County Public Works Schedule for Monday, Jan. 22 - Friday, Jan. 26

Crews will be:

 

  • Performing storm clean-up county wide.
  • Brushing on Youngs River Road.
  • Ditching on Lower River Road and Brownsmead area.
  • Performing culvert maintenance on Ft. Clatsop Road at MP 2.07.

May 2024 Primary Election Candidate Filing Opens

The candidate filing window has opened for the May 21, 2024 Primary Election. 


Positions include County Commissioner District 2, County Commissioner District 4, Sheriff and Precinct Committee Persons.

Recording Information

You can now search for a document that has been recorded in Clatsop County.


We have developed a way for you to search for a document before coming in or calling our office. 


Once you find the document you are looking for, you can request a copy without paying a research fee.  


Just go to our website under Recording Information – Records Research, click on Locate a Document.

Passports

An appointment is required prior to coming in for new passport processing. Routine service can take 6-8 weeks or longer. Expedite service can take 2-3 weeks

Appointment Scheduling Saves You Time

Please go to our webpage and schedule an appointment for passports, park passes, marriage licenses, dog licenses, and recordings with us.


If you do not have an appointment, you may be asked to wait if we are with someone who has scheduled an appointment.
